This tile calculator works out how many tiles and boxes you need for a floor or wall, including wastage. Enter the area (or its length and width), the tile size and tiles-per-box to get a box count you can buy — with a cutting and breakage allowance built in.

How it's calculated
Area = 12 × 10 = 120 sq ft
One tile = 2 × 2 = 4 sq ft
Tiles = 120 × 1.05 ÷ 4 = 32 → 8 boxes

How this calculator works
The area is divided by the area of a single tile to get the tile count, then a wastage allowance (5% by default) is added for cuts, breakage and future repairs.
That count is divided by tiles-per-box and rounded up, because tiles are sold by the box. Buying from one batch avoids shade differences between boxes.

- Why buy full boxes from one batch?
- Tiles are sold per box and shades vary between production batches, so it's safest to buy a little extra from the same batch upfront.
